Islamabad High Court Establishes Special Bench for Overseas Pakistanis’ Property Issues

Islamabad – March 17, 2025: In a significant move to address the legal challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, announced the establishment of a special bench in the Islamabad High Court. The initiative aims to provide a streamlined mechanism for resolving property-related disputes of expatriates.

Speaking on Monday, Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted that this development represents a major step toward ensuring prompt and efficient legal redress for overseas Pakistanis. He emphasized that expatriates often face considerable difficulties in navigating the legal system while residing abroad, making such an initiative crucial.

“The special bench will help reduce the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis in seeking legal guidance. It will play a vital role in addressing their grievances and ensuring swift justice,” he stated.

The minister further elaborated that all cases presented before this special bench will be resolved within 90 days. This time-bound resolution is aimed at expediting legal procedures, ensuring the protection of overseas Pakistanis’ interests, and preventing prolonged litigation that often discourages expatriates from pursuing legal action.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain reiterated the federal government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of overseas Pakistanis. He assured that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, in collaboration with the judiciary, will take all necessary steps to facilitate expatriates and resolve their property-related concerns efficiently.

The establishment of this special bench has been welcomed by various overseas Pakistani communities, who have long struggled with property disputes in their homeland. Legal experts also view this initiative as a significant milestone in ensuring access to justice for Pakistanis residing abroad.

The government remains dedicated to introducing further reforms aimed at protecting the rights of expatriates and addressing their concerns on priority. This latest measure reflects a proactive approach toward strengthening the legal framework for overseas Pakistanis and reinforcing their confidence in the judicial system.
