Anjuman Falah-o-Bahbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur (AFOBI)

Anjuman Falah-o-Bahbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur (AFOBI) stands as a significant force for good in Azad Kashmir, dedicated to serving humanity through its wide range of social welfare initiatives. As a registered NGO, the organization focuses on public health as its primary goal, recognizing the essential need for accessible and quality healthcare in the region.

In addition to healthcare, AFOBI’s commitment to environmental and human service projects demonstrates a holistic approach to community well-being. Whether it’s through initiatives like the Kidney Dialysis Centerambulance services, or the Patient Attendants Shelter, AFOBI works to address a variety of needs, ensuring that both the physical and social aspects of health are cared for.

By tackling issues related to public healthenvironmental conservation, and human services, AFOBI is helping build a more resilient and compassionate community. Their projects show how community-driven organizations can fill gaps in government services, offering practical solutions to real-world problems faced by local populations.

Free Kidney Dialysis Center

Free Kidney Dialysis Center under the umbrella of Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur Azad Kashmir (AFOBI) which is situated in boundary wall of Divisional Headquarter Teaching Hospital Mirpur AJK has experienced significant growth over the years, both in terms of patients served and its capacity to provide dialysis treatment. Established since 2003 under Registration No. DSW/274 (Act 1982), it has become an essential healthcare service in the community, providing over 160,000 dialysis treatments to date.

Starting with just three dialysis machines in 2003, the center has expanded to 29 machines, enabling it to treat more than 50 patients daily across three shifts. The fact that the center has separate wards for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and general patients shows a commitment to providing specialized care in a safe environment for all patients.

In terms of general information, kidney dialysis is a life-saving treatment for patients with kidney failure. It helps to filter waste, salt, and excess fluids from the blood when the kidneys can no longer perform these functions. Dialysis can be done in different ways, including hemodialysis, which is most likely the method used in this center, or peritoneal dialysis, which uses the lining of the abdomen.

Free Ambulance Services

The 24/7 Free Ambulance Service provided by Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur AJK (AFOBI) is a truly impactful initiative that goes above and beyond in supporting dialysis patients, particularly those who face significant challenges in transportation. This service ensures that patients, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, can access dialysis treatment without the stress or financial burden of arranging their own transport.

For many dialysis patients, particularly those suffering from chronic kidney disease, the physical toll of travel can be overwhelming. By offering safe, reliable, and free transport, AFOBI not only ensures that patients receive timely treatment but also reduces the health risks that might arise from delayed or difficult travel. This kind of service is crucial, as many patients require regular dialysis treatments and may otherwise struggle to get to appointments on their own due to physical or financial limitations.

The fully equipped ambulance and trained staff are key in making this service both comfortable and safe for patients. It’s a wonderful example of how a community-focused initiative can significantly improve healthcare accessibility and patient quality of life.

Heal the Earth Nursery

Heal the Earth Plantation Nursery sounds like an incredible initiative with a profound impact on both the environment and the local community. The nursery’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community empowerment is truly commendable. By focusing on the belief that environmental conservation and social well-being are intertwined, it’s setting an inspiring example of how we can all contribute to a healthier, greener world.

The idea of offering free seedlings to the community, regardless of socioeconomic status, is a powerful way to ensure that everyone has the chance to participate in environmental conservation. It’s a generous gesture that empowers people to take action, fostering a sense of pride and ownership over the health of the planet. Plus, by collaborating with local communities, schools, and environmental organizations, Heal the Earth is building a collective effort that can make a lasting impact.

The nursery’s focus on education and empowerment—through workshopseducational programs, and hands-on experiences—offers valuable opportunities for individuals to learn about environmental responsibility while directly engaging in the healing process. It’s clear that the nursery doesn’t just cultivate plants; it also cultivates environmental consciousness and community resilience.

Shelter for Patient Addentants

he Patient Attendants Shelter at the DHQ Teaching Hospital is a remarkable initiative of Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur AJK (AFOBI) that truly prioritizes the well-being of caregivers and families of hospitalized patients. The shelter, inaugurated by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, represents a transformational shift in how healthcare facilities support not just the patients but also their loved ones. It’s a project that’s had a significant impact, and its success has set a model for other hospitals in Azad Kashmir.

The fact that Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur AJK (AFOBI) took the initiative to create a safe, hygienic, and comfortable space for patient attendants highlights the empathy and understanding of the challenges these caregivers face. Often, family members and attendants are left to struggle with inadequate accommodation, resulting in added stress, fatigue, and financial strain. Providing them with a space to rest, refresh, and stay close to their loved ones without the concern of shelter costs is an invaluable contribution.

This initiative also improves patient care significantly. When attendants are well-rested and comfortable, they are in a much better position to offer the emotional and physical support that patients need during their recovery. It creates a more compassionate healthcare environment, which ultimately leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.

The Prime Minister‘s support and the praise for the project from both him and other stakeholders underscore its importance. This shelter project serves as a model for future healthcare developments, and it’s exciting to hear that plans are in place to replicate it across other hospitals in Azad Kashmir.
